Aubrey Yang is African American and the chief of staff for the mayor of the city. Married to a Black Chinese American and living a multicultural life, she is determined to put an end to racism and minority oppression by the police. Using her position of power to terminate and jail several racist, high ranking police officers, she never imagines how far they will go to stop her.
Caleb is Aubrey's son and a young college student. Home for the Christmas break, he is targeted and murdered in cold blood by the local police – a clear message in retaliation to Aubrey's efforts. They want her to back off and will stop at nothing.
Caleb's murder does not stop Aubrey's quest for social justice. Overcoming depression, a drinking problem, divorce, and an attempt on her life, Aubrey perseveres. Finding true justice, however, seem unattainable until the universe brings together a unique set of people that seek accountability for not only Caleb but two other young men as well. This international group of characters will dig deeper than ever before and finally circumvent seemingly impossible circumstances and achieve accountability.
