Day's (The Nanny Game) somewhat overstuffed romance brings together Victor Cortez and Maeve Eddington as they go from opposing counsels to lovers. Day has a way of bringing different settings to life, whether describing the snowy environs outside of Chicago or the tropical paradise of Costa Rica. She creates interesting and detailed plots, but readers might find that she tries to do a bit too much for the page count. Between dealing with exes returning and the legal plot that connects the main characters, the relationship suffers. While the characters are appealing, readers will feel dissatisfied that they don't solve their problems together and that some of the major moments in their relationship take place off page. VERDICT Despite being denser than the average Harlequin, this won't satisfy most readers.--Brigid Black
