In the second in the Chambers of Justice series, Will Chambers defends Joe and Mary Sue Fellows, a Georgia farm family charged with child abuse. When brake fluid is found in their son Joshua's drinking cup, the state wants to place Joshua in foster care. But Mary Sue flees with him first. Then Joe is imprisoned when he won't tell where she is. Alan Nebelthau's narration is clear, crisp, and easy to understand. The courtroom scenes are dramatic, with rising tension and voice pitch that give a sense of multiple narrators. Further, the airplane ride to the specialist for a second diagnosis, complete with sound effects, is outstanding. This legal thriller is riveting. G.D.W. (c) AudioFile 2006, Portland, Maine
