This beloved series, long considered one of the essential guides to refer to when trip-planning (along with guides by Frommer's, Lonely Planet, and Rick Steves) invites first-time visitors to experience a city by ensuring they are pointed to top spots that make the most of their time and help them experience a place in full. A particularly engaging aspect of this series is its attention to detail about neighborhoods of the featured city. It also guides readers to less-touristy places that can be easily reached from the featured city for a day of exploring. Sprinkled throughout these excellent resources are full-color photos of the city's sights and attractions and sidebars offering "Top Reasons To Go." These books also offer a selection of clear maps. VERDICT This is a reliable, efficient, well-organized series for readers who have always wanted to visit a particular city. Libraries should consider these guides a key purchase.
