Volume One contains forty two poems from three of Browning’s most famous collections: Men and Women, Dramatic Romances and Dramatic Lyrics. The poems have been carefully chosen to provide outstanding examples of different themes, genres and techniques—“poems of all sorts and sizes and styles and subjects”. The text (including spelling and punctuation) is based on Browning’s final revision and organisation of the poems as published in the sixteen-volume Poetical Works (1888-89). Each poem has been line-numbered and may be printed for personal use.
